Once again, the Civil Court of the City of New York is offering a free CLE program for attorneys with five or more years of admission to the New York State Bar to serve as arbitrators in the Small Claims Parts of the Court. If so, contact Gail Johnson at the NYC Civil Court at 212-374-8175. The next training program, scheduled for Jan. 15, 2004 ( 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) at the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, prepares and certifies attorneys to become pro-bono arbitrators in the Small Claims Parts of the New York City Civil Court in all five boroughs. Participants must have a minimum of five years admitted to the New York Bar in order to be eligible.

Starting Jan. 1, 2004, the Small Claims Parts now hear claims for up to $5,000.
